Award Winning Teacher & FQT/GSWS Affiliated Faculty Member Dalmacio Dennis Flores on Classroom Inclusivity
FQT/GSWS Affiliated Faculty Member Dalmacio Dennis Flores' work is featured in the Almanac's series, Talk About Teaching & Learning. Flores' piece, titled "Classroom Inclusivity: Lessons Learned and Strategies Moving Forward" pulls from Flores' experiences in the Department of Family and Community Health at Penn Nursing. He received the Department Award for Exemplary Teaching in May 2021 and received the Trustees’ Council of Penn Women Award for Undergraduate Advising in fall 2021.

FQT/GSWS Board Member and Weitzman Assistant Professor Akira Drake Rodriguez recently co-authored a piece in The Metropole on the Racialized History of Philadelphia's Toxic Public Schools. The long-defunded Philadelphia Public School system has been in the news in recent years for issues related to environmental health.

In an interview with MSNBC, PIK Professor Dorothy Roberts discusses bell hooks’ influence on feminism. “[hooks] was honest, she was fierce, she was courageous, but everything stemmed from her motivation of love,” Roberts says. “She felt that love had to be the basis of justice and there could be no justice without love, and no love without justice"
GSWS Minor Chinaza Ruth Okonkwo Named Marshall Scholar
Senior Chinaza Ruth Okonkwo is one of two UPenn students named 2022 Marshall Scholars. Okonkwo is majoring in philosophy and history and, in addition to pursuing a GSWS minor, is also minoring in Africana Studies and Native American and Indigenous Studies.
