GSWS/APC congratulates GSWS core faculty Hsiao-wen Cheng, Dawn Teele, and Jessa Lingel on their recent tenure appointments!

We stand in solidarity with those across the country, and especially in the city of Philadelphia, who are working for revolutionary change by protesting. The protests around the disregard, devaluation, and violent treatment of Black people come as a consequence of a long history of racist violence, including state-sponsored violence and police brutality, and exploitation fueled by white supremacy.  Black lives matter.

This year, GSWS seniors received a number of awards recognizing their scholarly work and service to the community. Two seniors were inducted into Phi Beta Kappa: Wesley Neal and Chloe Tan.

As COVID 19 continues to reshape our lives, members of the GSWS/APC community take this opportunity to acknowledge the ways that responses ranging from the federal government, to schools, to households, fail to consider how gender, race, sexuality, and class are shaping people’s experiences of this crisis.

The Alice Paul Center, together with the Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies Program, is pleased to announce that "Performing Environmental Feminisms" has been selected for a Sachs Collaborative Provosts Interdisciplinary Grant in partnership with the Department of Music and Native American and Indigenous Studies. The Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies Program, together with the Alice Paul Center, are pleased to announce the inaugural winners of the Lynda S. Hart Teaching Award: Sophie Hochhäusl (faculty) and Davy Knittle (graduate student).
