Ricardo and Eva: Our Sincerest Thanks

The GSWS and FQT team wants to express gratitude and warmth for two folks who are wrapping up their time with us: Ricardo Bracho and Eva Pensis.  Both have been such vital parts of our community, and we’re deeply grateful for the commitments they’ve made to our students, colleagues and neighborhoods.

As Abrams Artist in Residence, Ricardo has brought so much depth, creativity, and commitment to everything he’s done here.  He has staged readings, curated courses and fostered fellowship.  Throughout these manifestations of his artistic and pedagogical practice, he has consistently reminded us what it means to stay connected to community, to art, and to the stakes of our work in the world. His presence has been grounding and inspiring in equal measure.

As a postdoctoral fellow at FQT, Eva’s work has pushed us to think more expansively and carefully about performance, media, and transfeminine cultural life. Her work is rich, generative and (in all senses of the word) spectacular.  Just as importantly, her generosity—as a colleague, teacher, collaborator, and thinker—has made our community stronger and more vibrant.

At a moment when our field feels especially precarious, having Ricardo and Eva with us has mattered deeply. They’ve helped sustain not just our scholarship, but our sense of purpose and possibility.

We’ll miss them very much, and we’re so grateful for all they’ve given. Please join us in wishing them both everything good in what’s ahead.
